Lovely’s Old Fashioned, Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan

After seeing a play recently, we were looking for a spot to eat a late-ish dinner in Hell’s Kitchen that we hadn’t tried before. We’ve passed Lovely’s Old Fashioned many times, and that night was the night to try it. It’s a small place with a counter and a brisk to-go business. Walking inside, the place smelled amazing. The grill was busy, a good sign. We sat at the counter and ordered what you see in the pics.

What to order
The burger was cheap, $8, and the reason is that it’s kinda small — which was actually perfect for me that night. I try not to eat heavy after 9pm. The order of fries was big enough for two to share, and the chicken sandwich was nicely sized for $12. Everything’s smashed fresh on the grill right in front of you, diner-style.

Service
The staff was helpful and very pleasant. All in all, this was the perfect meal for after a show — quick, satisfying, and not too heavy this late in the evening.

Good to know before you go

• Location: 9th Avenue at 45th Street — easy walking distance from most Theater District shows.
• Hours: Open late — Thursday through Saturday they run until 2–3am, which makes this a solid option after a night show lets out.
• Seating: Counter-style, around 10 seats, with occasional sidewalk tables. Takeout is easy if it’s crowded.
• For light eaters: A single patty is the move if you don’t want anything too heavy — it’s on the smaller side, which works in your favor late at night.
